In Fallout (Savannah Sizzle Series Book 3) by Alex Croft, a sadistic killer is targeting the Lawrence Ward family after Simone Boudreaux divorced Devin Miller. He is a convicted felon who hired a physician to convince the warden that he was dying of terminal cancer. Miller faked his own death, went for appearance-altering plastic surgery, and then vanished. An ex-convict wanted to add groundnuts to Simone’s water bottle to start an allergic reaction and she was locked inside a frosty walk-in cooler. Detective Juliette Foret is in charge of investigating these crimes, but proving Miller was involved in this is difficult. Liam Lawrence Ward, Savannah’s most eligible bachelor, decides to track down Miller himself and is almost killed. He phones his high school sweetheart to assist with the investigation and Detective Foret and FBI Senior Special Agent Stone must work together to protect Liam and his family.
The plot in Fallout by Alex Croft is complicated and there are a few stories woven into one. It is intriguing and thrilling, and I could not put it down until I found out what happened between Liam and Juliette. Their romance begins when they started investigating together and is a great addition to the nonstop suspense and action. The story is fast-paced and full of events that kept me on the edge of my seat. I just kept turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. There are many different characters and each one contributed to the success of the story. They are well developed and described in detail, and I could relate, although I did not like all of them. The book is excellently written and I enjoyed reading it. The ending exceeded my expectations, and I was in for a big surprise.
