It’s Christmas Eve, and Fang and Bang, the cat detectives, are eagerly looking forward to celebrating the holidays when the phone rings. The Bell Inn landlord is panicking because the giant wheel of Stilton they get every year for the King's College Cambridge choir has disappeared. The detectives are on the blue cheese crumb trail, following it through the city and along the river. When they catch up, the cheese thief takes off, leading them on a merry dance that ends in King's College Chapel. Who do they meet there? And can they rescue the cheese in time to save Christmas?
Fang, Bang and the Midnight Mouse: The Christmas Call by J-J Murray is an entertaining story for kids, beautifully illustrated by Katy Taylor, and set in Cambridge in the UK. It’s a mystery story with plenty of humor and lots of heart, keeping young readers engaged with its lively pace and chases, with clever clues dotted throughout. The two cat detectives are lovable characters, while their rival brings mischief and emotion to the story. The festive setting adds atmosphere, but it also teaches some interesting history and culture. It’s a fun adventure that kids will absolutely love reading, perfect for getting everyone in the holiday spirit, but it also carries a message of sharing, forgiveness, and friendship.
