Fear, Faith, Reason by Diana Estill is a well-written book that exposes a thief disguised as a guardian as well as other concepts relating to faith and reason based on Diana's experiences. Using instances from exaggerated media headlines, weather records, and forecasts, Diana describes the three types of people during a crisis, ranging from alarmists to healers and helpers. While discussing the benefit that comes when we fear and honor God, Diana emphasizes that certain fears are necessary and life-preserving; therefore, it is important to differentiate between good fears and toxic ones. She further highlights the impact that toxic fear could have on an individual’s well-being. Diana discusses the many faces of fear as well as the despair that comes when we trust man's power over the supreme power of God.
I found this book to be very effective and instrumental in remodeling my mind, thought process, and ultimately my faith in God. It was a pleasure to learn from Diana’s experiences, as this made her writing engaging and relatable. I loved the key points section at the end of each topic, as well as the references. This book was well organized, and all the discussions had an excellent pace. I found Diana’s writing to be detailed, straightforward, and easy to comprehend. The Bible stories and quotations were on point and gave me some time to reflect on God’s word as I read. I recommend Fear, Faith, Reason: Finding Calm in a Crisis Culture by Diana Estill to anyone passionate about building their faith in God and anyone battling with fear.
