Feather & Ink by Robert Reisler is the first volume in The Pen: Mightier than the Sword series. Keenan Harris and his dad don't really get on, but they are on a camping trip together when Keenan finds an old feather pen. It has strange powers and the ability to think for itself, and when Keenan touches it, the pen “claims” him as its owner. Now, Keenan is dragged into an unexpected adventure full of evil as he fights to protect his nearest and dearest. Where will the pen take Keenan, and can he really use it to save the world?

Feather & Ink by Robert Reisler is a unique story, a narrative of one boy's adventures, but with important messages for all of us. This might be a fictional tale, but it teaches us the importance of family relationships and being brave when the need arises, no matter what age we are. This is a captivating tale that will hold you from start to finish, with wonderfully complex characters. It’s perfectly suited for a younger audience, although as someone much older, I can honestly say I enjoyed it. The illustrations are hand-drawn in black and white and add some context to the story. This is an action-packed tale with plenty going on to hold your attention. Just when you think you can take a breath, you turn the page and off you go again, but that makes it a fun read. I think any young reader will enjoy this; I know I did, and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Feather and Ink (The Pen: Mightier Than The Sword) is a children’s adventure by Robert Reisler, with illustrations by Kate Henriott Jauw. The story follows Keenan Harris, a strong young boy who is very different from his intellectual father, who enjoys reading and learning. While Keenan is sporty and physically active, his father is absorbed in books and knowledge. One day, Keenan's father suggests they camp out in the woods to bond and learn more about each other’s interests. During an exploration, Keenan discovers a mysterious cabin. Inside, he finds a magical feather pen that chooses him as its guardian. When they return home, Keenan begins to write with the pen, and he and his father are suddenly transported to ancient England. They embark on an adventure to help King Arthur reclaim his throne and save the world.

Feather and Ink (The Pen: Mightier Than The Sword) is the first book in Keenan’s story and lays a compelling foundation for the series. It combines themes of magic, adventure, and familial bonds. Robert Reisler’s engaging narration allows Keenan to break the fourth wall and interact directly with the reader, making the story enjoyable. The story conveys a profound lesson about understanding and embracing different strengths. Keenan’s physical prowess contrasts with his father’s intellect, but together, they form a powerful team capable of achieving greatness. The narrative is filled with suspense as Keenan hints at the upcoming adventure while receiving warnings from the feather pen's writings. Additionally, the illustrations perfectly complement the story and bring the characters to life. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to following Keenan on his future adventures. I highly recommend sharing this book with your children, as it is an entertaining tale that teaches valuable lessons about bravery, trust, and believing in oneself.

Feather & Ink's: The Pen: Mightier Than The Sword, is Volume One of Robert Reisler's new children's chapter book series. After his mom passed away two years ago, eight-year-old Keenan Harris' father doubled down on his efforts to bond with his son. On a father-son camping trip to Mystic Lake, Keenan comes across an abandoned cabin where he finds a mysterious feathered pen. He comes home and feels a strange presence in his room. Spurred on by the pen, Keenan begins to write and soon finds himself in his own story, traveling through time to ancient England alongside his father, who wants to become the new Master Royal Inventor for the king. Keenan also runs into Arthur, a boy destined to become king. All Arthur needs to do is pull a magical sword from a stone. Can Keenan help him?

Children who enjoy time-travel adventure tales will find a lot to love about Feather & Ink. Fast-paced and packed with mystery and intrigue, this captivating yarn is a treat for young fantasy-adventure readers. Author Robert Reisler doesn't take many pages to set up the characters and the plot, drawing you in with a fascinating premise and following it through with an engrossing narrative that leaves you wanting more. From the beginning to the very end, you witness the events play out through the eyes of the young protagonist, Keenan, a likable character you can relate to. I loved Keenan's bond with his father and his budding friendship with Arthur. Hopefully, I can read more books from this series. In conclusion, if you enjoy time-travel adventure stories, do not miss out on this one!

The Pen: Mightier Than The Sword, the first volume of the Feather & Ink series by Robert Reisler, begins when Keenan Harris stumbles upon a mysterious feather pen in an abandoned cabin. He had gone on a camping trip with his dad, hoping they would bond more despite their differing interests. However, instead of playing or having fun together, they each pursued their activities separately. This led Keenan to explore the surrounding area and discover an abandoned cabin. Everything in the cabin appeared ordinary, except for a feather pen that seemed to have a life of its own. As soon as Keenan reached for it, the pen moved into his hand on its own. Despite his attempts to pull away, it seemed that the magical pen had chosen him as its rightful owner. Will Keenan be able to handle the adventure and responsibilities ahead?

The Pen: Mightier Than The Sword by Robert Reisler is unique, fast-paced, and well-written. I was engaged in the story from the beginning to the end. The illustrations, created by Kate Henriott-Jauw with contributions from Isa Anders, were all captivating. I felt sad and could relate to Keenan's relationship with his dad and the attention he craved from him. I admired Keenan for being understanding, strong, and brave for his family, despite being so young. The story offers many valuable lessons for both parents and children. Keenan's experiences teach parents the importance of spending quality time with their children and being vigilant to prevent any potential issues that their children might be hiding. It also reminds children to stay close to their parents, avoid exploring abandoned places, and resist the temptation to take things that do not belong to them. I felt nervous for Keenan during his adventures, but I also found them very interesting and fun. Overall, it was a fascinating read. Well done!
