In Finding Faith by Claudia Terry Pemberton, Faith is a single 28-year-old woman who has a strong religious belief and tries to live her life in a way that is pleasing to God. One night after leaving her job, she is abducted getting into her car. Faith is flung into her assailant's car trunk and taken to an unknown location, thrown on a mattress, and will remain there for the next 54 hours. Faith prays for God to get her out of this dangerous and scary situation but she is disappointed when He does not answer. The man keeping her hooded and scared has no problem hitting her hard enough to do a lot of damage. Faith is not sure why she is released into a dark alley but she runs to the nearest location where help is available, finding a sympathetic man who comforts her and calls for help. They form a friendship and he and Faith’s parents and childhood best friend try to put the pieces back together to get her back to her former self.
Finding Faith by Claudia Terry Pemberton is a very good Christian story on several levels. We share with Faith her feelings and confusion as to why God has let this happen and how she can return to believing again. The surprise twists make this into a suspenseful thriller that is hard to put down. I highly recommend this book for both believers and non-believers. It has an inspiring message that will lift your spirits while giving you the chance to read a really good mystery. It is impossible not to want this to end for Faith and for her to find happiness again. The characters are all so real and God plays such an important part in Finding Faith that one cannot stop reading late into the night. Do not pass up Finding Faith as it is a winner!
