Finding Faith: In The Beginning of Genesis tells us that God is unique and that “The word and God are one.” This is a definitive collection of readings covering the first twelve chapters of the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible. Janice M. Boyd assembles the beginnings of this biblical study with constant connections between the Old and the New Testaments. A total of twenty-one daily readings are presented by Boyd in this part book, part devotional work. It conveys the notion that we are “spirit, soul and body” according to the Bible. The chapters follow the twin books of the Holy Book, explaining the differences and providing a behind-the-scenes narrative.

For a Christian like myself, or anyone interested in Christianity, this is an important reference work. Janice M. Boyd covers the content at the beginning of the Bible and I found it most enlightening. Breaking down the book of Genesis was not only helpful but educational. Reading this thoroughly researched and developed book taught me new things, revelations actually, about the Bible, and specifically the book of Genesis. As an example, there are ranks of angels in the Bible with special assignments. That blew my mind. I wanted to remember what I read and found it useful to have my Bible nearby to cross-reference. The author thought of everything in Finding Faith. There are even pages for jotting down notes at the back of this book. A very enlightening and thoughtful work.
