The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows his handiwork (Psalm 19:1). The first six verses of Psalm 19 explain that God’s creation shows His glory. Melanie Burgess shares this viewpoint in her children’s book, Fingerprints of God. This book is excellent for teaching your children Bible verses reflecting God’s glory and control in nature. Melanie shows that the sky, mountains, plants, and animals show God exists and has left His signature for all to see. As you read this book to or with your child, ask questions about noticing God’s hand at work in the world. For example, science says a bumblebee should not be able to fly, but it does. Is this not part of God’s fingerprint with some humor? In addition, this book shares many different species of animals that your child may not be familiar with. Use this as an opportunity to learn more about nature and the God of nature.

Not only is Melanie Burgess an outstanding creative writer, but she is also a talented illustrator. She writes about seeing God in nature and then illustrates her points. Your child will enjoy seeing the different animals and scenery. You can see the hand of God in all aspects of creation. Share with your child that God shows His existence and it is up to the individual to look for those fingerprints. True science never contradicts the Word of God. Melanie desires to share God and His love for His creation. She does this masterfully, and God will honor her work. Fingerprints of God is one book that needs to be on the shelf of every child who lives in a Christian home. Help your child understand that the God Who created the universe and everything in it is the same God that created and loves them.

Have you ever witnessed a cloudless sunrise or seen the sunset as if drawn by some truly great painter? How do you feel when you see wild animals watching their cubs play? Or when the majestic eagle takes flight to the sky? All these miraculous events hint at the hand of a Creator. Fingerprints of God is a gentle reminder of the One behind all these marvelous creations on Earth and throughout the cosmos. Written and illustrated by Melanie Burgess, the book is narrated in a poetic style that is a joy to read. Burgess takes readers through a number of things in this world that prove the existence of the Creator and, at the end of the book, offers some fun little facts that will entertain as well as educate kids.

As people grow older, we have a tendency to lose touch with the creations of God and ignore the wonders that inhabit this planet. Fingerprints of God is a book that will bring back that sense of beauty and wonder in the reader. Although written primarily for children, this is a book that will put a smile on the faces of adults as well. Melanie Burgess' illustrations add another layer of engagement to the narrative, making it all the more fun and immersive to read. In between the pages, there are Bible verses to educate readers about some of the fundamental facts of life. Overall, I very much enjoyed Fingerprints of God. A short picture book for children that will also enlighten adults.

Fingerprints of God by Melanie Burgess is a children’s book with a religious theme and references to specific Bible verses. As the title of the book indicates, the author explores the beauty of the world in search of "the fingerprints of God" and to prove and show them to the reader. It is a book intended to teach children that God created everything around us and that we can find proof of his creation, his fingerprints, in nature. From the moon that shines above the ocean, the morning sun, the forest, and the mountain with its peak to all the living creatures on this earth, horses, marine life, eagles, or humans, some of God’s fingerprints are presented by the author.

One of the aspects that I liked about Fingerprints of God by Melanie Burgess is the magnificent illustrations appearing on each page. Their beauty plays a major part when it comes to capturing what the author wanted to highlight through the book in the best way. Through their surreal beauty, every subject depicted felt surrounded by warmth, and I could see God’s fingerprints. Another aspect that I liked about the book is its educational side. Each page presented a new subject and some interesting facts concerning it that I enjoyed learning, such as the bioluminescence that occurs on the beaches of Puerto Rico, Mosquito Bay, or the blobfish that lives in the deepest and darkest places of the ocean.

Through vivid descriptions and remarkable illustrations, Burgess invites young readers to slow down as they consider God's amazing and intricate creations. Fingerprints of God by Melanie Burgess is a children’s picture book with a Christian theme. Burgess moves her focus from the sky and walks children through several of Earth’s biomes, pointing out the brilliance of their existence and signifying God as the facilitator of the beauty of creation. Scriptures from God’s Word, the International Children’s Bible, and the King James Version accompany the text, providing religious context, and pictures of animals and scenery adorn the pages.

I was blown away by the vibrant illustrations in Fingerprints of God. They were clear and detailed, almost as if they were taken straight from a photograph. The text followed the pictures, providing a clear pattern to readers. The scientific examples are referenced at the end of the book, and many of the featured animals are described. I read the book with my five-year-old, and the words and drawings held his attention throughout the story. Melanie Burgess’s work is a wonderful picture book for children!

The scriptures are relevant, and the author did a beautiful job of tying the wonder of science to the magnificence of creation. God is at the center of this book, and every page gives the glory of nature to Him while still citing scientific facts. Near the end, Burgess cites human creation and reminds her readers that God created us in His own image, which may help boost the self-esteem of some children. Fingerprints of God would be a good selection for parents and caregivers to read to young children.
