Kaye Brand has been selected by her father to be ancient Ferrol Grey's bride even though she is only fifteen. But Kaye is not the type to just take orders and she tells her father that she is not marrying Ferrol Grey. She is repelled among other things by the fact that Ferrol has sent his unappealing sister Zelda to the marriage in his stead. Plus, she has just investigated what is in the basement of Brand House and has found a shackled, wounded angel down there who tells her to flee Brand House and her marriage to Ferrol. So Kaye runs from her home and is attacked ferociously by a wraith as Brand House burns to the ground. Kaye recovers and makes her way, drunkenly telling wealthy men's futures by releasing the fireball that is in her power to wield. Jack Bastian, an angelic mage, is sent to rescue Kaye. But what can he do with Kaye who has a mind and powers of her own?
"Fire Kissed" is a book for paranormal fiction lovers everywhere. Kaye Brand, the central character, is just that, a powerful but beautiful woman who doesn't like taking "no" for an answer and when her power is recovered, wields a fireball that tells people's futures. All the other characters such as Jack, Horace Ballough, Khan and his human wife Layla, and possible friend Gail Maellen are totally believable in their worldliness or otherworldliness and serve the plot line well as Kaye joins Jack to stop Errol Grey and his powerful wraiths. The storyline unfolds with the twists and turns that paranormal fiction requires and will be popular with readers of this genre who are waiting for author Erin Kellison to write more in this 'Shadow Kissed' series.
