Omni lost her mother at a very young age but received an amazing gift – the ability to survive death. Fire of Life: Queen, Captain, Hero, Book 1 of the Angelic Heroes Trilogy by D.C. Cowan follows the adventures of Omni as she grows up, learning positive values from her father in spite of ridicule from many of the townspeople and a desire that does not fit with the image of a ‘normal’ young girl. During the war to overthrow the King, who had invaded and taken over her homeland many years earlier, Omni comes to learn many surprising facts about the people she loves. She is led on the path to many adventures – as a queen, a pirate ship captain and a hero. Throughout these undertakings, she has the help of a Golden Angel who is an emissary from ‘The One,’ the power of good in the universe. As Omni’s powers increase, her questions about the nature of her gifts lead her towards a final showdown against the earthly representative of evil. Who will prevail?
Fire of Life by D.C. Cowan is an exciting, well-written and imaginative story of the continual fight between good and evil – on a grand scale and in daily life. The characters are well developed and the action moves the story along at a steady pace. There is also plenty of food for thought regarding many aspects of society, including politics and religion, with a wide variety of opinions and outlooks. Follow Omni’s growth and accomplishments as she tries to respect the teachings of ‘The One’ in this riveting tale. Great story - I can't wait to read more from this author!
