Firebird by Jennifer Loring is a definite scorcher. This is one novel that will make you blush, but at the same time, it will make you smile. There is a hot Russian hockey player, Aleksandr Volynsky, who is a bad boy and a great sportsman. When this Stanley Cup winner was traded to a team that was breaking down, Alex felt disturbed, but he did not give up. He was ready to go and make things better when life threw another bombshell at him: the one person he had to give up to make his family proud was Stephanie Hartwell.
Stephanie Hartwell just wants to make sure that her dream career will be able to support her. When she lands the job of getting an exclusive interview with the bad boy of hockey, she is excited for her career, scared for her heart. Alex was the man she wanted to marry, but when they broke up in high school, all her dreams broke down too. Now that she is engaged to another man, she cannot afford to think about Alex and how good they were together. But, destiny has other plans for them.
This novel was amazing. It was everything that I look for in a good novel; it was fast paced, it was developed, the plot line was good, the twists were unexpected, and the lead was hot. Jennifer Loring did an amazing job in creating Alex because he is one of a kind. In the mass of stereotypical sports pseudo-alpha heroes, he is the real deal. I loved and hated and loved him. This is definitely a book that I will read again and again.
