Life on two continents
Marja was born and raised in Holland. As a child she was fascinated by authors who divided their time between two countries. Today, she is one of them! For years she and husband Jan divided their time between Holland and Southern California, where Jan worked as a race car technician in off-road racing and Marja started her writing journey.
Traveling
A life of traveling & adventure took them all over the world. They visited countries like Nepal, India and Malaysia in the Far East but also Bolivia, Peru and Chili in South America. Although their love for traveling has not subsided, their spiritual journey took on a whole new meaning when they experienced the love and grace of their Creator.
Writing
Marja is the author of several books published in the USA as well as in the Netherlands. She writes her books in both languages. Her monthly columns appear in one of Holland's biggest Christian magazines. Together with her husband she is the founder of Traveling Light, a non-profit organisation that seeks to provide practical, financial and spiritual encouragement to Christian initiatives all over Europe and the Middle East.

Love is a common topic for discussion. Marja Verschoor-Meijers tackles this topic in First Love. Her stated goals for this book seem massive. They include a proper understanding of God’s love for people, including you. Also, she discusses how God’s love will help you refresh your relationship with God, your spouse, and others. A significant need for God’s love is to help you be faithful until the end. Boredom tends to lead to erroneous behavior and sin. This book is based on the need to avoid physical and spiritual adultery, as found in the seventh of the Ten Commandments. Marja shows how God intends us to live out the Commandments and not just judge by them. Our love for God must be kept alive, leading us to love others, including our enemies. How is this possible? Read this excellent book, and you will learn.
Marja Verschoor-Meijers knows her stuff. I have been a minister for over 45 years and have read thousands of books. In my humble opinion, First Love does a better job at explaining Law #7 than any other author I have ever read. She uses the Scriptures and not only exegetes this commandment, but she also gives practical application. Too many people read the Ten Commandments as dead and dry material. Marja brings the Commandment to life and shows that it is living and power-giving. Not committing adultery has more to do with living lovingly than you think. Marriage is a picture of Christ and His Bride, the Church. Satan attacks marriage with all his might, trying to blur the image God has given. When marriage is done rightly, it becomes an evangelistic tool that will draw others to Christ. Read this powerful book, and your relationships with God, your spouse, and others will be incredibly blessed.
