“I want you to close your eyes and have someone read this to you. Imagine…” Cookies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and cakes are the standard sweets in Ria Lala’s Floating in Sweets, but she has also included a section on rainbows. "What’s that?" you may ask. Well, it’s multicolored this and that: milkshakes, cupcakes, cookies, and so much more. Just let the imagination take you wherever it will, and the mouthwatering sweets will take you on an adventure like no other. It’s time to become a chef, a creator of almost magically delicious desserts. They’re almost too beautiful to consume, but you must eat them to enjoy the fruits of your labor of love.
Ria Lala’s Floating in Sweets: Delightful Desserts for Kids is a cookbook for the young and the young at heart. Bright and colorfully presented, this book is a treat for the eyes, as one would expect when the creations are being enjoyed. The book is organized into sections, beginning with a section on spectacular cookies and concluding with an all-inclusive section that captures the imagination: the rainbow collection. Each recipe is well-laid-out and easy to follow. The author includes bold, colorful photographs and illustrations to spark the reader’s interest. I think my favorite cookie recipe is the Honey Snickerpoodle Cookies, which are even shaped like the friendly face of a poodle. Another eye-catcher is the Rainbow Cake, complete with multi-colored icing on top of the delicious-looking creation. This is a great book to savor while browsing it, as well as to inspire and encourage young readers to get busy in the kitchen and create their own delicious treats.
