Author Biography

Marty Ingram is a retired United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and Helicopter Air Rescue Pilot and also served as a Disaster Response Officer. He is also a retired Federal Aviation Administration Supervisory Aviation Safety Inspector. He has received numerous military awards and decorations to include the New York State Medal for Valor and the Military Air Command's Award for Excellence in Airmanship. During Superstorm Sandy, he was the Chief of the Point Breeze Volunteer Fire Department. He was awarded the New York State Volunteer Fire Chief for 2013 and was selected as an Honorary Battalion Chief by the Fire Department of New York (FDNY).

Flood, Fire and a Superstorm by Marty Ingram provides a compelling first-hand account of the devastating impact of Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Ingram, the chief of the Point Breeze Volunteer Fire Department, offers a unique perspective on the unprecedented challenges that the volunteers and first responders faced during and after the storm. The book vividly describes the destruction caused by the storm's tidal surge, which inundated the New York Metropolitan area and left many residents without power, food, or shelter.
