This novel is the third installment in the Raegan O’Rourke Mystery and splits the focus between her personal life and her mother, Danielle. The author thoughtfully included synopses of the first two installments, which helped me better understand this book. I loved everything about this story, from the plot to the development. Jesse and Raegan were my best characters, and they blossomed before my eyes, which was a high point. The animosity between the Fausts and Ainsley was also disturbing. They sustained grudges through generations. However, I loved Mimi, for she was bold and resourceful. Thank you for a beautiful book, Brenda. Keep writing.

Fool's Gold by Brenda Lyne is the third book in the Raegan O'Rourke Mystery series. Raegan's mother, Danielle, has been in hiding for three decades, but she has finally come home. I read Fool's Gold by Brenda Lyne as a standalone. Even though I haven't read the rest of the series, I found it an easy read. However, I would recommend reading the first two books before this one as you'll get a better feel for the characters and storyline. This is an adult paranormal story because of the violence and language but it is perfectly in keeping with the plot. There is more than enough action and mystery to keep you reading and plenty of suspense that builds throughout the story. It is fast-paced, but it's one of those books that you can't put down once you start, and it will keep you guessing all the way through. The characters are developed as real people, wholly likable, and you'll be rooting for the O'Rourke family right from the start. A highly enjoyable story, and recommended for all fans of the paranormal or who want something a little different.
