Cold Justice is another Buck Taylor mystery from Chuck Morgan. Buck Taylor is back with another case to crack. A sniper attack at a Colorado ski resort leaves dead and injured behind, and it’s down to Buck and his team to find the killer before any more people die. But this sniper is deadly and silent, and it won’t be easy. Their investigations lead them to corruption and a deadly secret, a long-ago death that could provide the motive. Buck has some tough decisions to make this time, and he has to decide if he’s willing to pay the high price for justice.

Cold Justice by Chuck Morgan is an excellent addition to one of the best thriller series I have ever read. Like all the other books, it is packed with action and high-octane thrills, fast-paced, and will hook you from the start, keeping you on the edge of your seat all the way through. It welcomes back old characters and introduces new ones that you’ll become just as invested in as you read. The suspense ramps up gradually in another unique plot that twists its way to an explosive ending. This series just keeps getting better, each book improving on the last, and honestly, if you love a truly great thriller with a strong lead character, you’ll love this book. I guarantee—read one book and you’ll want to read the entire series. It’s hard to keep a series interesting and different, especially when it’s a long one, but Chuck Morgan has managed it beautifully with the Buck Taylor series.

In Chuck Morgan's Cold Justice, a sniper opened fire at a ski resort in Hinsdale County, Colorado, killing multiple people. This marked just the start of a larger vendetta against the wealthy and powerful. After being cleared to return to duty following an accident, Agent Buck Taylor and his team are summoned to track down the sniper. It quickly becomes evident who the intended victim of the sniper was. Buck and his team uncover a network of corruption tied to a developer, deepening the enigma surrounding the shootings. The developer feared the attention that the shootings had attracted, while the sniper felt they had been presented with an opportunity to do the right thing but had intentionally rejected it. Can Buck and his team find the sniper before more people lose their lives?

Cold Justice by Chuck Morgan is a riveting thriller that captivated me from the start. The action kicked off immediately and continued without pause until the conclusion. The unexpected twists and turns kept me enthralled, anticipating what would happen next. The pace was brisk, and the writing style was captivating. The characters felt genuine and easy to connect with. Buck and his crew, along with the sheriff and his team, all worked together seamlessly throughout the investigation. The story was exceptionally well-crafted, making me pause for a moment to reconnect with reality. The ending caught me completely off guard; it was shocking and left me reeling. It was an excellent read, and it will linger in my thoughts for some time.

It is Grassy Mountain Resort’s opening ski weekend. This resort is near Lake City in Hinsdale County, Colorado. It attracts the wealthy and elite, and they’re all there waiting for it to open. On day one, tragedy strikes as a sniper takes out seven people. Are they all connected, or is there a darker motive involved? Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) agent Buck Henry and his team arrive in Hinsdale County and partner with Sheriff Mike Drucker to discover who the sniper is and their motive. As the body count rises, Buck realises he needs to work faster. Can he stop the sniper before it’s too late? And who is the real villain of the story? You’ll need to read Cold Justice by Chuck Morgan to find out.

I read Cold Justice in two days, as it was so exciting I couldn’t put it down. The action begins in the first paragraph and races along to a satisfying ending. The book switches between the third and first person narrative, and the reader gets to know the thoughts of the sniper—ingenious! This is the 14th book in the Buck Taylor mystery series, but can be read as a standalone. Chuck Morgan cleverly refers back to previous incidents in Buck’s history when required to reintroduce recurring characters. After enjoying this book so much, I will now go back and read the others. I highly recommend this book to thriller fans everywhere—you may never go on a ski lift again. It may be better suited for a mature audience, as there is bloodshed and swearing.
