Author Biography

I started working in women’s health care in my 20’s. I was visiting several OB/GYNs daily. I quickly realized from my conversations with the doctors that I did not know nearly enough about the long term risks of diseases and that preventative measures are not enough in many situations. I was absolutely shocked that I received a great education in a state known for great schools and was college educated, yet still I was lacking in knowledge of a topic that can be life altering. I decided to tell the stories I heard in an effort to fill the information gap and make sure young people are making truly informed decisions on having sex. Almost all people who read this learn something new and realize they also don’t have all the facts.

Forever Is A Really Long Time: The Truth About Sex and STDs by Kelly S. Bolton captures the stories of single women who have had sex at a very young age without being aware of the consequences and suffering thereafter. The stories of thirteen women shared in the book is an eyeopener to all women out there - a young woman, a teenager, a divorced mom, or parent - of the consequences of sex. The stories shared are based on the author hearing about the realities of sex from nurses, doctors, and her friends for over two decades and reveals how many of these young women are actually not really aware of the kinds of risks they are exposed to while having sex.

It is a good topic that actually needs to be discussed so that young women are more informed about sex and about the real risks that can happen so that they can take care of by using a condom. With sexual freedom comes problems, diseases, regret, emotional issues, infertility, cancer, and even death. Forever Is A Really Long Time: The Truth About Sex and STDs by Kelly S. Bolton will make readers understand that STDs are not at all rare and to believe that it is not going to happen to them is foolish. I would say the book has a lot of information for young women regarding having sex at an early age and will educate them about the possible outcomes before engaging in sexual activities of any kind, the risks, and complications that can arise.
