Forget Me Not by Allison Whitmore is the story of Teddi and Calvin – two young people who should not even be friends but find themselves deeply in love. The story takes place in the early 1940s in a small quiet town in New York where the residents are far away from the war raging in Europe. Teddi lives with her domineering grandmother and grandfather; Calvin is alone and living in the local orphanage. We quickly learn that Teddi’s father killed Calvin’s dad and the two families are anything but friends. Teenaged Teddi and Calvin, against all odds, become quick friends and form a friendship, a bond of love that will never break. They had to fight the odds against their sister and brother, grandmother and townspeople, going off to war, and people trying to harm them, but through it all Teddi and Calvin kept their love alive. They are soon entwined in a mystery that will answer the many questions Teddi and Calvin have concerning their pasts, but it takes a back seat to their romance.

Forget Me Not is a beautiful story of young love and the hard road to maturity for two very different people. The mystery of finding out how and why their two families were enemies was reminiscent of the old Hatfield and McCoy feud. Allison Whitmore has given readers a delightful love story that spans the time from young love to married life with children in a very heartfelt story. Forget Me Not had a little of everything – history, mystery, friendship, love and sadness; it was all good and enjoyable reading.
