"Four Points in Time and Place: Delights and Dilemmas of a Global Traveler" is a memoir of an American named Shirley traveling to the four points of the world that she loves the best. With her long road trip with friends to Mexico City in 1959 when she was just twenty one to go to summer school there, to her adventure with German friends in the USA in 1974 when she was thirty six years old, to Germany with her husband Henry in 1989 when she was fifty one, and finally to China with her daughter Annette in 2004 when she was sixty six years old. Shirley takes you on her journey to the four points to share her experiences and stories.

Author Shirley D. Meier writes with humor and reflection about her global travels spanning her lifetime. She gives a unique twist with her account of traveling to Mexico with the funny perspective of her red convertible bug, Heidi. Heidi weaves you through her adventures with Shirley and her friends on their long road trip to Mexico with an unexpected view point that is refreshing and creative. Meir writes about her views on communist East Germany versus Wast Germany and gives the readers a portrait of the landscapes and atmosphere during that time, but what has to be her funniest story is her debacle in China: “one country, two systems.” It can be a cautionary tale for all foreign travelers!
