Free Ice Cream by Ganesh Natarajan is a non-fiction book about how to make things for free, especially ice cream. A group of high school kids had a project for their Economics class; they needed to find a way to make things, like food and clothes, for free. They came up with a plan for using artificial intelligence and machines to make that happen. After college, they ended up in different countries to make their plan happen. They kept in touch over the years to explain how things are going with their idea.

I thought that Free Ice Cream by Ganesh Natarajan was an interesting idea. I liked the format of the storytelling idea to explain how things worked. It might help if you knew the basics of economics, but the author still made it simple enough to understand, which I appreciated. The world-building was done really well. I had no trouble picturing the places. The characters were fun. I think I would have loved to have Morty as my professor. I appreciated the way the author showed us how the project went in the future as well by having the characters keep in touch and tell each other how their end of the project was working or not working. I admit the non-fiction part reads like a science fiction novel to me. But the way the author did the ending to show us how it all worked made it fascinating and easy to understand, which I liked. If you are into finding ways to help the economy, then this book is a great read for that purpose. I highly recommend it.
