From Grief To Grace is a work of collected poems penned by author Kristopher A. Shirey. Ranging in their themes across a wide variety of emotions and subject matters, this is a collection that digs down into real human feelings and evokes reminiscence in its readers. In a spread of 36 pages, this concise yet poignant volume shares with us Shirey’s unique insight into aspects such as the headiness of romance and passion, experiences of grief and the heartache of loss. What results is a narrative-style poetic experience that expresses the author’s feelings in a highly relatable way to the reading audience.

One of the things I found most striking about author Kristopher A. Shirey’s work was the visceral quality to it; a use of multi-sensory depiction and powerful imagery that truly lifts the words off the page and paints an image in your head. No matter the subject matter of the poems, this is an enduring experience throughout, where the heat of passion builds with rhythm and pace or stormy skies form with palpable tension. It is a talent of its own to create such evocations in the readership. Beyond this, the work is well arranged and collected to display a vast array of emotive expressions so that the overall journey becomes quite overwhelming and moving. Overall, From Grief To Grace is poetry at its best and as it should be, and I would highly recommend this collection and Kristopher A. Shirey to poetry fans everywhere.
