Author Biography

Carter Amon is a Marine Corps veteran and award-winning sales executive whose greatest titles are husband, father, and storyteller. Living in the Dallas–Fort Worth area with his wife Sarah and their two boys, Hank and Dean, Carter draws daily inspiration from faith, family, and the small, miraculous moments of life.

His debut children’s book, Gabriel the Brave, was born from a father’s desire to teach courage and faith in a way young hearts can understand. With gentle humor, heartfelt storytelling, and luminous illustrations, Carter reimagines the untold journey of the angel Gabriel, a reminder that even those chosen by God can feel nervous, but true bravery comes from trust and purpose.

When he’s not writing or working in the land and real estate world, Carter enjoys serving in his church, creating stories with his sons, and encouraging others to find strength in their own calling. Gabriel the Brave is his first published work.

Treat yourself to a delightful Christmas story with Carter Amon's Gabriel the Brave. This picture book opens with a young boy asking his father the reason behind placing a star on top of a Christmas tree. Soon, his father regales him with the tale of the angel Gabriel. As a young angel in heaven, Gabriel was nervous when God chose him to take a message to a young woman named Mary on Earth. God tells Gabriel that Mary is about to give birth to the Lord's son, Jesus. Gathering his courage, Gabriel travels to Nazareth to deliver God's message to Mary. While Mary and Joseph prepare for Jesus' birth, God helps Gabriel brighten the Star of Bethlehem. Now, everyone can follow the path that leads to the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

Gabriel the Brave is a captivating Christmas story that illustrates the importance of courage, family, and faith. Author Carter Amon recounts the tale of Gabriel the angel and his role in the birth of Jesus Christ with an adventurous narrative that young readers are bound to love. Darryl Erby's illustrations are mesmerizing. Children will find the story even more immersive with the narrative beautifully complemented by the vibrant illustrations. Another highlight of the book for me was the characters. Gabriel is a fascinating protagonist. He is young and experiences fear and anxiety when tasked with an important responsibility, something youngsters can relate to. Through his faith in God, he overcomes self-doubt and accomplishes everything he sets out to do, which is a great life lesson for kids. Overall, children will love this picture book.
