In Get Gribnitz, Howard Gimple offers a humorous take on the life of Stew Gribnitz, an advertising copywriter working for a firm on Madison Avenue. Our protagonist lacks impulse control—thus, during a staff meeting with his coworkers, Stew insults his new boss, James Persons, before brutally assaulting the man's tie and storming off. Shockingly, Persons is murdered the very next day, and everyone, including the police, regards Stew as the main suspect. Poor Stew loses his job in light of these recent events. As luck would have it, he secures a new gig working for Edward Rivette, the Republican candidate running for governor of Connecticut. When Rivette also dies under unusual circumstances, it's up to Stew to indulge in some amateur sleuthing of his own and expose the real murderer. Will his 'investigations' pay off, or does a New York jail cell have his name on it?

In this imaginative tale, Howard Gimple captures the hard-edged colloquial style of a well-written mystery thriller. His narrative masterfully presents a winning combination of intriguing crime-solving and witty cynicism that will win the hearts of mystery lovers far and wide. Stew's fast-paced adventures are both entertaining and gripping. It was amusing watching him meander through the astonishing events unfolding around him while never losing his facetious charm throughout the narrative. I especially loved his closeness with Nicky and Jeannie—with the three of them being affectionately dubbed The Three Amigos. Every detail in this novel is cleverly orchestrated to elicit hearty laugh-out-loud moments from delighted readers. If you like stories with a healthy dose of humor, richly developed characters, crisp dialogue, and bizarre twists, Get Gribnitz is the perfect mystery novel to add to your collection today.
