A beautiful story, Gifts of the Crysnix by Lisa G. Shore reiterates the magic and power of fairies and how we all can ask fairies to help us achieve what we want in our lives. Marsuveus belongs to a parallel universe, the Crystal Kingdom which is hidden from humankind, and which is enchanting and breath-taking. They refer to themselves as Crysnix and they live in a perfect society where each Crysnix has a skill and works towards the betterment of the society. Many a time, the inner voice that guides humans is a Crysnix that comes to help them in a human form.

Elixir is tall and handsome and has had the honor of serving the Kings of the Crystal Kingdom. But he has a secret which he has kept hidden from the world. Like the Crysnix, the Ogres live in the forest and, though they live in another dimension, their vibration is slower and they are not as sophisticated as the Crysnix. But more than the Ogres, it is the Dark Prince Onyx who is the actual threat and who is also a manifestation of evil. As the story progresses along with the positive side of the Crysnix and the negativity of the Dark Prince Onyx, readers are taught some wonderful lessons that will help them look at life with a positive frame of mind and also make them understand the power of forgiveness, determination, and empowerment.

All the characters in the story are well portrayed and leave a lasting impression on the minds of readers. The story has many layers to it, making it a compelling read. It’s not only a story of transformation; it’s also a story of hope. The Crystal Kingdom, Crysnix, and Castle Forest give a magical vibe to the plot and also a softness and enchantment that come with fairies. There are many characters in the story that will inspire readers with their power, strength, and character. For all those who are fascinated by fairies, wizards, shamans, and enchanting creatures, this story will definitely appeal. It's for all those readers who love the special magic that comes with stories revolving around fairies and magical creatures.

One rainy night many years ago, Lisa Shore was tucking her daughters in while the wind thrashed outside the window and the rain pitter-pattered on the roof over their heads. She then told a story about magical fairies who only came out when it rained and danced on the roofs of the humans who lived at the edge of the forest. Their names were Pitter and Patter and they granted wishes if a human saw them.

After her daughters fell asleep that night, Shore wrote down the idea and ultimately turned it into her new book, “Gifts of the Crysnix”. This book is perfect for middle schoolers and teens. While the book can appeal to anyone, Shore believes her primary targets is girls at the brink of becoming women. After losing both parents at a young age and raising three children as a single parent, she wanted to show – through the telling of a fairytale – that we can all make the most our of whatever situation we are in.
“If I can help readers believe they have tremendous power over their lives by trusting their gut instincts and going for the best life they can live, then I believe the universe will deliver it to them,” Shore said.

This book is about making the right choices and wishes to have the best life possible. This book encourages young women to believe in themselves and finding your strength. It also drives home the importance of forgiveness, humility and gratitude. A beautifully written book that will inspire and empower.

Beautiful creatures from a parallel universe watch over the humans in a small seaside town. A breathtaking new world—so perfect, so enchanting that we want to believe—unfolds as we witness the journey of new friends, who lead us toward our own personal triumphs. They have harnessed the power to bend time and grant wishes.
“Elixir will do just fine,” Marsuveus said with conviction. “He doesn’t know it yet but he has tremendous power behind him. He is fulfilling his destiny.”
At that moment, the storm hit full force, and the animals and Crysnix cowered for cover. The hurricane whipped and tore at Galvin Cove and shredded the young trees of Castle Forest. It seemed it was only a matter of time before the Dark Prince Onyx would win.
The king flew above them all on the back of Marsuveus and shouted to the expectant faces below.
“Take heart! Remember our strategy! Fight the fear! Fight the fear!”
All it takes is the will to believe.

'My book is about making the right choices and wishes in order for you to live your best life.' Shore said. 'It's about believing in yourself, finding strength in humility, the importance of gratitude and the power of forgiveness.'

'If I can help readers believe they have tremendous power over their lives by trusting their gut instincts and going for the best life they can live, then I believe the universe will deliver it to them.' Shore said. 'The ideas of positive intention crosses all barriers of religion, race and age groups.'

In her debut book Shore has created an enchanting tale of beautiful fairy creatures that live high in the treetops in the forest. Their world is perfect, their community loving and giving. They possess the power to bend time and grant wishes of the humans around them who are at a tipping point in their life. She touches on the power of forgiveness, the beauty of grace and turning fear into strong determination and empowerment.

It is a story that offers transformation and hope. It is a story that is emotionally charged and offers heroes that will inspire you. It is a wonderful book of positive life-lessons that will help you greatly on life's journey.

excerpt from Mystic Living Review

The Gift of Life Lessons

As a child of nine, I pretty much had the monopoly among my friends on how to deal with death. My dad had died in a plane accident at the prime of his life and his loss changed my life forever. I watched as my mom struggled to carry on alone, putting on a brave face and trying to keep positive in the depths of despair. Her strength taught me to look on the bright side and my positive conviction was challenged once again when she died six years later of breast cancer (and probably a broken heart).

At 16, I was at an age when I was really trying to figure out life. Along with all the normal adolescent questions, I tried to understand the deeper dynamics of life. I knew without question that if you keep a positive attitude, life will triumph in the face of grief and loss.

Life challenges us all but for those of us who really believe in positive intention; we know that it’s easier to get through the bumps. I know first-hand, that it works and began to study the quantum physics of the power of a wish. Science can prove that we are magnetic beings and thought has mass. Why couldn’t our thoughts attract the manifestation of our wishes?

I set out to write a novel for kids who are on the brink of becoming adults to offer life lessons and inspire them to listen to their gut instincts and believe in themselves. The story is about the power of wishes in creating your best life. It raises issues of self-confidence, choice and consequence and offers a ride into a parallel universe where beauty and perfection ignite the senses. Emotions run from the frailty of young love to the depths of grief and the reader may be surprised at what comes from the strength of humility and the power of forgiveness.

Sophisticated life lessons of self-worth are presented in “Gifts of the Crysnix” and will resonate with any age. Is it the story of my life? No, but my hard-earned education of life, loss and moving on to create your best life is reflected.

Lisa G. Shore Author Interview

Gifts of the Crysnix is about fairies that watch over villagers in a seaside town by granting wishes and comforting them in times of need. When you set out to write this book was it your intention to write a story filled with kindness and morality?

Yes, it was a conscious decision to create a story that would resonate with not only young people but adults as well. My main intent was the message to trust your gut instincts, or inner voice, to lead you in life. I created the Crysnix to personify your inner voice. I wanted to open the door to the possibility for the reader to dream big, believe in them self and make the best of their life. When I began writing the story it was in the form of a screenplay. There are many “scenes” that are filled with emotion and imagery and a take-home value found in films you want to see again and again. I turned the screenplay into a novel and enjoyed taking the story to a new dimension of reaching out to the hearts and minds of the readers.

The fairies must learn to deal with their own issues so that they can mature and help humans with their problems. What were some of the trials that you felt were important to highlight the Crysnix’s development?

I really enjoyed creating the Crysnix world. Although it is perfect, I made the Crysnix have to earn their perfection and also their powers to fly without wings and grant wishes. Some of the early trials are the basic adolescent hurdles of not feeling pretty or good enough, gossiping and being self-absorbed. As the story progresses the issues get broader and decisions are made around the value of integrity, believing in yourself against all odds and the simple fact that just being yourself is enough to earn love and respect. The lessons get more and more complex and as a friend said to me, “It is a great read on life lessons for young people and also a good refresher for us adults.” One example is; at the end of the story the protagonist, Elixir finds the value of forgiveness when he realizes his father was doing the best he could and just messed up. Although the mistake impacted Elixir’s life, we learn that we are not responsible for the choices of others and it is not up to us to shoulder the burden. When Elixir finally forgives his father, he becomes free to move on in his life.

The Laws of Light are rules that fairies know very well, but humans struggle with. What was your inspiration for the Laws of Light and how they’re used in the novel?

The Laws of Light are introduced as the basis of the Crysnix belief system and although I described a few, I left it up to the reader to imagine what the others may be. They really spell out the depth of character of the Crysnix and are an inspiration for us humans. When I wrote the story I kept referring to them but only described them at the end of the book. I was hoping to create a sense of reverence and mystery about them. When they were finally revealed as the simple truths of self-acceptance, being a source of love for others, living with gratitude, trying to better the world and never forgetting our purpose, I hoped they would resonate with and be remembered by the reader.

There are insightful quotes at the begging of each chapter. How did you choose which quotes to put in your story?

I have always been a fan of descriptive elegance where wisdom is spelled out concisely and beautifully. I have a book of quotes that I referred to and I researched my favorite sources online. Most of the “anonymous” quotes are my own. I enjoy books that use the format of introducing chapters with quotes. I think it lends another dimension to the story and who wouldn’t appreciate input from the eloquent talents of the likes of Marcus Aurelius, Goethe, Aristotle and Henry David Thoreau?

What is the next story that you’re working on and when is it due out?

I have six more children’s books waiting in the wings and a sequel to Gifts of the Crysnix nagging at me. I have finished the first two books of the Presley Series and am in the process of launching them on Amazon etc. They are about a young girl whose imagination gets her into trouble although she always has the best intentions. Currently, I am illustrating a bedtime storybook for young children.
