Give Her Back to Me by Jason Garrett begins in the present day just after Aubrey has buried her father. Sixteen years ago nine girls were stolen, nine girls who looked alike. Only one survived - Aubrey. During her rescue, her father was injured to the extent that he had to give up his job as sheriff and 16 years later, he died – but the abductor, named The Apostle, escaped. Now another girl has been taken – another girl who looks the same – and a message has been left on the sheriff’s door that says, “Give her back to me.” The message is from The Apostle and refers to Aubrey. Aubrey turns to her twin sister for help and they join together to confront the past and try to draw the abductor out so that she can put an end to her years of terror and nightmares and hopefully save another life into the bargain.
Give Her Back to Me by Jason Garrett was a reasonably good read. I found it a little choppy, but the story was there with one or two little twists that made it different. The characters were OK, the story did run in a smooth fashion and, to be fair, it was a good plot. The reason I found it choppy was the constant movement back and forth between then and now without any real run into the flashbacks. That said, the story wouldn’t have been there without them so it’s just a case of getting to grips with it. Good book, though.
