Go! God’s Call to Action: A 30-Day Devotional is a Christian Living/Bible Studies book written by S.A. Foster, a researcher, blogger and author, who publishes a women’s Christian Living Blog called Honorable Distinction. Foster believes that God is an active force, a confidant, mentor and commander whose message is to go and fulfill the mission he’s assigned to you. Each one of these 30 devotionals begins with a biblical quote, a suggested reading from Scripture, and a discussion of that reading with connections made to the reader’s own life and challenges. She concludes each day’s work with a special prayer and a Call to Action that helps the reader meditate and act upon the lesson learned that day.
Go! God’s Call to Action: A 30-Day Devotional is not only inspirational, it challenges the reader to look past the conventional wisdom and homilies and embrace a God who wants action, who wants his followers to go and get things done. Foster’s discussions of the scriptures she gives are brilliant and illuminating, and they made reading this book of devotionals exciting and a welcome change from the traditional fare. I especially enjoyed her extensive coverage of the New Testament and Jesus Christ’s miracles, and appreciated how she was able to tie in those miracles with the everyday miracles she sees in life. Her work is beautifully presented, and her discussions are elegant and learned. Go! God’s Call to Action: A 30-Day Devotional is most highly recommended.
