Author Biography

Michael and Delane Salkeld are known for their work in both the business world and global ministry. They are authors of God Whispers Are Life Changers, which details their journey from joblessness to starting and growing a successful company over more than two decades, but their story isn't about their business success. It’s about how it enabled them to pursue lives of service as it chronicles how God’s whispers, "quiet nudges of faith" led them into ministries that have taken them from underprivileged neighborhoods in the United States to rural villages and orphan care in sub-Saharan Africa.
Michael and Delane have two adult children (Michael’s stepsons), an adopted teenage daughter, six grandchildren, an enormous extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and more… and their two (brother and sister) Maltese-Shih-Tzu’s, George and Gracie. With family so spread out geographically, Michael and Delane are blessed to be able to get together with many of them on extended-family summer and Christmas vacations, often in beautiful and God Whisper-inspired locations!
Michael and Delane were married in a simple service on a beautiful, warm, sunny day in a garden patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, and recently returned there to celebrate their twenty-seventh anniversary!

God Whispers Are Life Changers by Michael Salkeld is a memoir about the blessings that come with following God’s guidance. At a time when Michael and his wife Delane were both out of jobs, and everything was looking bleak, God whispered to them. They co-founded ParaWest real estate management in 2003. God showed them divine favor as they gradually grew and expanded, sending them clients who became lifelong friends. They chose to give to those who were in need, and their focus was on the Kabwata Orphanage in Zambia and empowering women in Cameroon. In their local community, they supported disadvantaged children by mentoring them and organizing the Summer Splash Camp, which included teaching swimming and STEM classes. Even in challenging periods such as the economic downturn of 2008 and the recent coronavirus pandemic, God was faithful to them. In this book, the author shares the lessons, challenges, and breakthroughs he and his wife encountered, as well as the spiritual guidance that helped them.

God Whispers Are Life Changers is a great read that shows what happens when someone listens to God’s voice and obediently follows His will. After reading Michael Salkeld’s other book, God Whispers Adventure Guide, which is a companion to this book, I just had to read this immediately. The book has business advice, spiritual lessons, and moving stories about lives that were transformed. This is a book about perseverance, service, and creating a legacy for God’s glory. This was engaging to read because the stories flowed cohesively. From a story about bagging their first clients, it transitions to one about funding their first well in Africa. I loved the photos that were included because they give readers a visual understanding of the people and places mentioned. The book is also about taking active action in your community, church, family, and work to empower others and show them God through you. Be His hands and feet every day and in every decision that you make. I really enjoyed this book and feel changed and empowered by these stories.

God Whispers Are Life Changers by Michael Salkeld is a collection of inspiring stories about the author's family’s entrepreneurship ventures that led to the rise of their successful real estate management business and powerful testimonies of the people they helped in their ministerial work. Their journey started on a bad note, with both Michael and his wife building a business on a shoestring budget and no jobs to fall back on. At every point on their way, they listened to God, and He led them through the greatest financial depression, the loss of clients, and the COVID-19 pandemic. They helped children in a mentorship program in the United States, funded projects and an orphanage in Zambia, and financed a microloan program in Cameroon. Their God-led life adventures taught them about grace, generosity, and humility, and they passed it on to others.

God Whispers Are Life Changers is a book proving that a faith-driven foundation in both life and work can be transformational and create miracles for people. Spiritual discernment has often been associated with personal growth and church communities. This book gives a refreshing perspective that adds lessons about having synergy between business and ministry, adapting and growing resilient during a crisis, and the importance of building relationships. At the core of this book is the powerful lesson of listening to God’s whispers and guidance. Michael Salkeld provides examples of how this worked out in his favor and how things went wrong when he did not follow the whispers. Another point that stood out to me was that it was not just him and his wife on the journey, but they also involved their children, passing on the torch of stewardship and generosity to the next generation. The book itself is a joy to read—structured in a way that’s easy to follow, with photos that make the journey come alive. If you’re ready to start your own faith-filled adventure, or you simply want some inspiration about what God can do in your life, then this is the book for you.

God Whispers Are Life Changers by Michael Salkeld is a true-life memoir about what can happen when two ordinary people choose to follow what they believe are quiet nudges from God rather than playing it safe. Michael and his wife, Delane, did not set out to build a business empire or become philanthropists. In February 2003, they were simply two people who lost their jobs in the same week — both downsized, with no savings, no clients, and no backup plan. From that frightening starting point, they built ParaWest, an apartment management company that would eventually grow to nearly two hundred employees managing over a billion dollars in real estate across five states. But the business is only half the story. The book also takes the reader to the Kabwata Orphanage in Lusaka, Zambia, where the couple has spent sixteen years helping raise children abandoned at birth, including a deaf baby boy they were invited to name — Michael. It moves through homeless shelters in Phoenix, underprivileged children's programs, river safaris on the Lower Zambezi, and encounters with twenty-foot Nile crocodiles.

Michael Salkeld writes in a warm, direct style that feels like a long conversation with someone who genuinely wants you to find your own version of the life he found. The pace moves well — the short God Note chapters scattered throughout act as breathing spaces, often providing the most touching moments. I found the story of Michelle, a single mother who fled an abusive husband with three young boys and nothing else, and who later spent fifteen years helping other homeless families through that same darkness, quietly unforgettable. The individuals who populate this book are real people changed by small acts of faith and generosity, which gives the themes of courage, service, and divine guidance a grounded, believable weight. If you have ever stood at a crossroads, unsure which way to turn, God Whispers Are Life Changers will feel like an encouraging hand on your shoulder.

In his memoir God Whispers Are Life Changers, Michael Salkeld recounts how a sudden job loss in 2003 led him and his wife, Delane, to rely on prayer as the basis for every decision that follows, shaping the creation of a property management company called ParaWest and guiding its early contracts, office transition, and later expansion into multiple markets. As their business develops, Michael connects operational choices, staffing, and investment decisions to what he identifies as God's direction. They also integrated service into daily life through long-term support for a single mother named Michelle, the adoption of a child named Roslyn, and the establishment of a structured summer program for children in Phoenix. The account also includes ongoing involvement with an orphanage in Zambia, where practical support and Bible distribution are carried out alongside business responsibilities grounded in Christian practice.

Michael Salkeld’s Christian memoir God Whispers Are Life Changers presents a life guided by the steady conviction that God speaks and expects a response. Salkeld answers with action that reshapes how he lives each day. He steps away from Sunday work after reading a roadside sign as instruction, and that decision forms a new pattern for his time and commitments. He welcomes Roslyn into his home during a moment of need and remains committed through a long legal path until she becomes part of his family. The writing in a plainspoken style keeps the reader's attention on what obedience looks like in real situations. When a relative asks for financial help, Salkeld turns to biblical teaching on caring for family and treats it as direction that requires a practical response. This book speaks to readers who want to see how faith guides daily choices, especially those in business or family life.

God Whispers Are Life Changers by Michael Salkeld is a well-written book that tells the story and legacy of Michael and his wife, Delane, to inspire readers to trust God for direction and wisdom as they journey through life. This book is divided into four parts, which begin with the couple’s entrepreneurial adventure after Michael lost his job. While adhering to God’s whisper, the couple took a step of faith and started their own business, ParaWest Management. Michael also writes about his impactful ministry work across the United States and sub-Saharan Africa through various international charitable organizations, including Bread and Water for Africa, as well as other faith-based ministries. Furthermore, the challenges and difficult times the couple faces throughout their journey, such as the recession that ripped through the U.S. economy in 2008, are included.

Michael and Delane's story is a testament to God’s faithfulness when believers completely trust God and intentionally seek to hear His whispers before making any decision. I commend the author for sharing from personal experiences, which strengthened my faith in God and made this book engaging. There was so much to learn from this book, particularly the value of investing in God’s purpose on earth to better the lives of others in need. The pictures at the end of each section were beautiful, encouraging, and they authenticated the book. The writing is organized, well-paced, and easy to comprehend. It also featured themes on faith, obedience, service to humanity, spiritual awareness, and more. I recommend God Whispers Are Life Changers by Michael Salkeld to all Christians and anyone seeking to live an impactful life.
