Going Deeper with the Twelve Steps: Following the Spirit of the Steps (Learning to Love) by Rene Lafaut describes our journey to spiritual healing. We grow in faith, hope, love, patience, and being modest as we search for healing. We only need faith as small as a mustard seed to succeed in our struggles and the search for freedom to love, and to learn how to care more deeply for people. Our minds and attitude will be renewed when we develop a healthy two-way relationship with God. The twelve steps are discussed to bring us closer to God and help us to be free from struggles and addictions. When we can recognize God’s voice, we will find answers and not have to guess what God wants to say to us. We must become dependent on God through our faith and trust and must be teachable. We have enough work on ourselves to last until our journey comes to an end.
The chapters are full of information but I never felt overwhelmed. Lafaut explains what we need to do to grow closer to God and how to apply the twelve steps in our lives. Rene Lafaut’s aim in Going Deeper with the Twelve Steps: Following the Spirit of the Steps (Learning to Love) is to help us on our journey to heal and care for others. It has a very strong message of the importance of our relationship with God and that the change to defeat our compulsions and addictions must come from us. This information is a powerful tool in our daily life and helps others with their compulsions and addictions. The book is well written and exceptionally well-edited and I recommend it if you want to change your life and grow closer to God.
