Author Biography

Children’s book author Kimberly Sentek has spent her entire life telling stories—so much so that her parents swear she was born talking. A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Kimberly received a bachelor’s degree in English Liberal Arts from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey). She has worked in publishing and market research and now works for local government.

Kimberly is owned by her two cockapoos, Nico and Tugger. Her Nico and Tugger Tale book series was inspired by them, and she hopes to continue writing a series of books about her two furry children where both main characters tell their sides of the same story.

Grumble and Tumble: A Nico and Tugger Tale by Kimberly Sentek is a delightful story of two dogs and how they look at the world. Tugger wants Nico to wake up and play with him but Nico wants to stay in bed. He has already made plans for the day. The next day Tugger wants to play outside with Nico, but he doesn't listen to anything Tugger says. Finally Nico joins Tugger and has a lot of fun playing outside. The story spreads a joyful message of having fun and living life to the fullest.

The storybook has beautiful illustrations that convey the concept neatly. They also breathe life into the scenes and characters and give the story a good pace and movement. The book is good for bedtime story-telling and can also be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. The portrayal of the two dogs, Nico and Tugger, is adorable and the lesson learned by Nico is applicable to everyone; that is to enjoy life.

Books that convey a message, have a good concept or thought are ideal for kids to help them comprehend the concept properly when narrated via a story. The perspective of Nico and Tugger and how they look at life is indeed very interesting to read. The rhyming verses add to the appeal of the narration and give it a lyrical quality that kids will enjoy while reading. An adorable story with a beautiful concept.
