My Parents’ Divorce Through My Eyes by Jennifer Junghans is a well-written book that aims to make the process of divorce easier for both parents and children. Jennifer begins with guidance for parents to help them listen, support, and make the most out of conversations with their children during separation. This book offers tips on how parents and children can handle communication, emotions, memories, new schedules, big changes, favorite activities, and more. This book also contains several conversation starters, questions, and ideas across various topics, such as activities children can focus on when their parents are arguing, things they would love to remain the same in both parents’ homes, and more, to help them express complex emotions.
I was so inspired by the fact that Jennifer Junghans based the narrative on her experience as a child of divorced parents. She uses this book as a medium to help children with similar experiences and contribute positively to family life. This proves her to be a passionate and skilled writer. The writing is well-paced, concise, straightforward, and easy to comprehend. I loved this book, and I found it informative, educational, and helpful in enabling families to cope during the difficult process of divorce. It features themes of family bonding, communication, dealing with emotions, and more. The colorful illustrations make this book more engaging and appealing to children. I recommend My Parents’ Divorce Through My Eyes: Gentle Conversation Starters for Young Children to all parents going through a divorce who need help communicating with their children during the process.
