In Hallows Gate by Michelle Erickson, Angelina gets lost, meets Redge, and falls in love with him. However, this is not your typical romance. Redge is a ghost. Fighting the logical part of her brain and with the help of two eccentric elf-looking ladies, she accepts what is happening. The only problem, other than the fact that the man she loves is dead, is that she needs to become his wife in order to save him. In doing so, she risks losing him forever. It’s not exactly how Angelina envisioned her marriage, so what’s a girl to do?

This book had it all: a paranormal romance that made me smile and say “aww!” at all the right places; time travel, which really makes the story fun and interesting; a murder mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat; and two peculiar sisters who had me laughing and wanting them as my own fun-loving aunts. Even though I wish that there were more Angelina/Redge moments in the first part of the book, the second part of the book makes up for it. Not only was the plot exciting, but it was also unpredictable. I tried to keep guessing what was going to happen, but I was always wrong, which was wonderfully frustrating. It was my first time reading a book by Michelle Erickson, and I was impressed. Hallows Gate is definitely a one-of-a-kind book, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good paranormal story. I can’t wait to read more by this fabulous author.
