Born in Manchester, England, Sara has lived and worked in Jordan, Dubai and Germany. As a child she wanted to be a writer and a ballerina.

She worked as a teacher, journalist and PR manager before becoming an author.

Sara’s first book, The Itchy Hedgehog, was inspired by the many hedgehogs who have wandered into her garden and adopted her over the years. Her garden is currently hedgehog-free, but she hopes one will pop in for a visit soon. The series also includes Hedgehog’s Halloween and The Lazy Hedgehog.

When she’s not writing or running after her children, she can be found in the garden arguing with her husband about what to do with the newts living at the bottom of the water fountain.

Hedgehog's Halloween by Sara Louise Kelany is a lovely children's picture book about a grumpy hedgehog who is ready for his long winter retreat. It's late autumn, and Harry Hedgehog is about to hibernate. Yet what he doesn't know is that it's also time for Halloween. Thus, when his quiet sleep in the garden is disturbed by loud bangs, shouts, and running children dressed in odd costumes, Harry Hedgehog concludes that he hates Halloween. Now, he must seek a new sleeping place away from the distracting noise. However, Harry quickly realizes that every place he initially thinks is a good choice is actually not suitable. However, he finally finds the perfect one, or so he thinks. He notices an incredible, tall palace made of leaves and twigs in the garden and decides to hide inside. But is the bonfire a proper place to hide for his winter sleep? Will Harry Hedgehog ever find the perfect place to hibernate?

Hedgehog's Halloween is book three in The Itchy Hedgehog series and is a fun, enjoyable, and gorgeous story focused on Fall festivity, autumn's beauty, and the adventures of a very cheeky hedgehog. This charming children's book is perfect for Halloween, bedtime, or storytime, and hedgehog and autumn lovers due to its magnificent and well-done illustrations by Michelle Vermeulen, beautiful rhyming language, and the mischievous little spider that children can spot on the pages. With this story, Sara Louise Kelany teaches young readers to be kind and to help the small creatures around them, showing them the impact we humans can have on the natural world if we do not pay more attention to our immediate environment.
