Heroics by Alex Kost is the story of a city named Caotico City, where superheroes and supervillains are real. However, they are going missing with every passing day. No one knows where they are and who is behind this nefarious plan. The teenage superheroes are used to handling petty crimes and criminals, but things are getting out of their league fast. They need someone to lead them and find out where everyone is before it is too late.
Kate Oliver is one of the superhero teenagers. She has no idea why everything is happening. She knows that her team is cracking under the strain and their supervisors are not helping them out. The petty crimes are turning sinister with mind control and cloning. Someone needs to step up and take responsibility before it is too late and everything is lost. Can Kate be their relentless and fearless leader? Or, will she and her team perish because of her over achieving desire to save everyone?
Alex Kost wrote a truly fantastic novel. Heroics is not your everyday, garden variety novel. This novel has action, thrills, mystery, passion and a team of superheroes who are quirky and too darn funny. I have to say, the way the novel began and Kate was introduced, I was not sure if she had the caliber or the guts to lead a team and save the day. However, her character developed with the novel's progress and she more than proved herself to be a worthy hero. Five stars for an awesome heroine and superhero. I really enjoyed the story and the sassy team of heroes.
