It’s obvious right from the start that there’s more to the Ruby Vial than anyone knows, more than Virginia and more than Shawn. But there’s also something more about each of these teenagers than meets the eye as well. Shawn may seem like the bad guy trying to destroy everything but is he really? Is Virginia really the one that’s destined to make everything better? There’s only one way to find out and that’s by trusting to time to tell the truth. Holding the Future Hostage is a story of more than just two teenagers fighting one another and their past; it’s a story of love and deception, magic and mystery.

From the start you would think Virginia is your quintessential good little girl, always doing the right thing and Shawn is the bad guy trying to foil her plans. But everything is definitely not what it seems. Shawn seems like too important a character to disregard and it’s difficult not to relate to him and get drawn into his story. At the same time, however, it’s easy to see why Virginia distrusts him. Of course, the Ruby Vial causes even more problems and raises even more questions. What is it? Who does it belong to? Where did it come from? These were definitely questions I asked myself and the answers most definitely intrigued me. I couldn’t wait to keep turning pages and find out what would happen next to Virginia, Shawn, Bryan, Joy, Erik and everyone else that’s affected by the Ruby Vial in Tialla Rising’s Holding the Future Hostage.

This was such an exciting and suspenseful book! Even though I was exhausted and could barely keep my eyes open, I kept reading until 2 O'Clock in the morning to finish this great book, because I just couldn't put it down.

I must say, I was never bored with this book. Just when I thought it was going to be cliché she put a little twist into it that made me always wonder what was behind the next page. The story plot was very original and intriguing. I hate books that leave you wondering if you should expect a sequel but feeling like you wouldn't want to read more because of how it ended. But this author did a very good job of wrapping it up and leaving you satisfied. Very well done :)

I really enjoyed this book. It is packed with non-stop adventure and action. There is never a dull moment in this book. It is very captivating and exciting to read. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves action filled Science Fiction.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Rising does a great job of providing a book with an exciting plot, interesting characters (I SOOO want to know more about Shawn!) and gives readers who love sci fi and fantasy everything they want without being trite or overdone. Not only that, the themes of the book are worthwhile and important even after the book is over. Highly recommended!

I loved this book so much that I could not put it down! Every page was filled with suspense and made you want to read more! I didn't know that such a young writer could write with such detail and beauty. The author uses words to describe the situation perfectly. Each character in this book has their own story that everyone can to relate to in their own way.

As a teen I loved this book so I know that other teens my age would love it too! If you like to read a beautifully written book that keeps you on the edge of your seat then this is the book to read!

I enjoyed Holding the Future Hostage immensely! The plot is not only exciting, but extremely creative, and I was so drawn into the story that I could hardly put the book down. There is not a dull moment in this novel, it's pages being filled to the brim with action and suspense. The ending is equally good and left me feeling quite pleased and satisfied. Overall, I found this to be a great read. I would highly recommend to any sci-fi action lover!

I absolutely LOVE this book! Although I did think it needed a bit more descriptive on a few of the characters concerning what they looked like, but other then that I think it flawless.

You will love this book! The plot is strong and grabbing. The characters are lovable. You will be wishing for more by the end!

Holding the Future Hostage was a very enjoyable read, it was action packed and continually keeping you on your toes.
The characters where interesting, and the plot intriging. I hope to see more of The Legacy of the Ruby Vial!

This book is incredible from the beginning. Hold on to your seat because the ride does not slow down much or for long! I could feel the emotions of the characters. The author wrote as if she were actually in these locations which make it very real. I believe the ending was brilliantly written for such a young author, leaves me wanting more. I thought it might get a little tricky to pull off the ending, but she did it with style! Thanks for such a good read!

Holding the Future Hostage- The Legacy of the Ruby Vial is an absolute page turner. It keeps you wondering what's next because that's how suspense filled the book is. I loved the element of unpredictability and surprise. Young readers will be able to relate with atleast one of the characters, I'll vouch for that! All in all, a great book and I recommend it highly!

Holding the Future Hostage is an amazing book. I loved diving into it to find a new adventure in every chapter. It was very exciting and I am extremely impressed with the author.

I've only ever read science fiction books or fiction books and this is one of my favorite! This book kept me captivated and locked on it from start to finish and I'm sure it will do the same for anyone else that loves, or even just likes science fiction. The plot, characters, and the adventure is what I loved about this book. You would've never known it was her first book, until someone told you.
