Honest Man's Freedom is a dystopian thriller written by Dustin M. Caviness. Set in a not-too-distant future, the book follows Tom Kadtz, a mechanical engineer who is falsely charged with fatally mowing down a man with his car. Already suffering from depression and OCD after losing his wife and daughter in a car accident ten years ago, Tom's life turns upside down after he's found guilty of second-degree manslaughter and is forced to volunteer for a correctional program on a suspended sentence. With the state monitoring every moment of his life, Tom is soon made a partner at his firm and marries his beautiful coworker, Holly Hill. However, as his term draws close to an end, Tom struggles to distinguish between reality and fiction.
Author Dustin M. Caviness tells a gripping tale of a man whose life is ruined by an authoritarian regime that rules the United States in a fictional dystopian world. As states all over the world continue to infringe upon the privacy of their citizens due to the unrestrained usage of technology in the modern era, Honest Man's Freedom is a grim reminder of what happens when governments control every single aspect of their citizens' lives. The plot moves at a blistering pace, with a tight narrative that leaves room for no wasted space. The characters play their roles perfectly to move the plot forward and add to the themes that the narrative explores.
