Hope is about to celebrate Christmas. Her father has brought out the decorations and this has made Hope very sad because she knows that due to her parents' separation, her mother will not be present for the festivities. Among the decorations, Hope finds a collection of snow globes, but one of them was broken a little before her parents' separation. On seeing it, Hope thought that if she fixed it her father and mother could be together again. With this idea in mind, she does her best to repair the snow globe. However, the situation is not as simple as expected. Hope's Broken Snow Globe is a heartwarming story created by Kelly Chang Rickert, written to examine the subject of divorce.
I loved the theme of this book. Good wishes are seen both in the story and in the images. The drawings are warm and convey a sense of love. Hope is a character who seeks the best for everyone, and her way of thinking is very understandable. The setting of the story is inspiring in that all the characters seek to help others. Hope's Broken Snow Globe is a wonderful way of talking about a difficult topic. Not having both parents stay together can be more complicated than it seems, but Kelly Chang Rickert has handled the subject in a very tender way. I also liked the honesty in the story because it helps explain reality, but in a very entertaining way.
