How Mommy Got Her Groove Back by Rebecca Undem is a slim but compelling memoir that follows a woman’s exceptional journey to self-awareness and personal success. Like millions of people, Rebecca Undem grew up dreaming of an extraordinary life in one of the busiest cities, perhaps working in the corporate world, smartly dressed, and exuding great confidence. But dreams are dreams and quite often they just reflect the expectations and hopes that others place on us. Rebecca will return home after many years to help in her family business, to a reality quite different and so far from anything she’d ever dreamt about while growing up. This memoir is a ruthless account of her awakening, a story that will definitely inspire others to seek that which really matters — their inner freedom.

Rebecca Undem’s memoir is an intimate story that is beautifully told and readers will adore the author’s honesty, her ebullient voice, her exceptional humor, and her reflections on life, personal growth, success, and happiness. I enjoyed many elements in this story. It reminded me of the vain person I used to be until very recently, and reinforced the thought I have learned to embrace; the thought that we can only find our path to happiness inasmuch as what we do resonates with who we truly are. I loved the excellent prose, the way the setting comes across in the writing — vivid and colorful — and the powerful lessons from Undem’s story. How Mommy Got Her Groove Back is interesting, an engaging and entertaining read loaded with many lessons to bring home.
