Sai Sri Sathya Baba (Avatar of God) was an Indian guru, who at age 14 claimed he was the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba and left his home to serve his devotees. In Dr. Tommy S. Wong’s book How Sai Baba Attracts Without Direct Contact: Diary of a 21st Century Devotee, the author, a follower of Sai Baba, presents several questions. Written in a diary format, How Sai Baba Attracts Without Direct Contact not only poses questions such as why Sai Baba attracts, and how Sai Baba helps without direct contact but delivers life lessons. One of the most important of these is treating others as you would like to be treated. This book tells readers how miracles are possible and enlightenment is real.

In an East-Meets-West or West–Meets–East sensibility, Dr. Wong taught me a great deal. How Sai Baba Attracts Without Direct Contact was spiritually informative and transformative. Having attended friends’ Satsang in a session devoted to Sai Baba, I was intrigued but somewhat bewildered. This book clarified questions I had about him, his teachings, and his miracles. Being broad-minded, the theme attracted my attention. Some may consider this topic “woo-woo,” - however, I believe in miracles and reincarnation. Knowing a possibility that involves experiencing peace is a tonic. Dr. Wong deserves praise for this compiling of a two-part work. Little did I know my brief visit to India and, decades later, an invitation to my Indian friend’s intimate Satsang would be further enhanced by the opportunity to read this book about spiritual awakening, and more. Namaste.
