How to Defend Yourself in 3 Seconds (or Less!): The Self Defense Secrets You NEED to Know! (Self Defense & Martial Arts) by Phil Pierce is a no-nonsense guide on how to defend yourself. Unlike other books in this category, Phil Pierce does one great thing: he doesn't just focus on the fighting but on everything that is involved in a fight.
In the book, readers learn about their legal and moral obligations in a fight - even if they are the victims to start with. How far can you go in self defense? What is the right thing to do? How can you disarm an attacker just with words (may not always work though)? These and many other questions are answered in this easy to understand book. The illustrations make the instructions even clearer.
What I really liked about the book was that it explained how a fight in the streets (or maybe in a bar) works, why, and how they arise. Phil Pierce explains what happens in your brain and body when you get attacked out of nowhere and how you can take advantage of your body's natural reactions. The moves and tactics you learn in this book aren't against your nature, so you will easily be able to use them. If you read that book, attacks on you don't get less unpleasant but at least you will have a fair chance of not being beaten to pulp.
