Hurricane Island (Quint Mitchell Mystery Series) by Parker Francis is a deep-seated thriller. Private investigator Quint Mitchell and ex-police officer Woody Carpenter are old friends, but a reunion at Cedar Key proves deadly. Quint and Woody are called back from a fishing trip to find a dead body in Woody’s house and his wife missing. Quint’s girlfriend is also missing and, with a deadly hurricane bearing down on them fast, time is short. Despite being warned to stay out of it, the two decide they can’t leave it to the local police to solve and they set off on their own investigation. The clues are building up but will they lead them in the right direction? Ghosts, drugs and a purple-gowned psychic all mix together with Hurricane Freda in the deadliest race against time.
Hurricane Island (Quint Mitchell Mystery Series) by Parker Francis is one of the best thrillers I have read in years. The action started on page one and it roared through the book like the hurricane. I liked how each chapter was written from a different point of view, each person’s story being told as the book wound on; I thought it added loads of depth to the story. The plot is amazingly good and the characters extremely well written, fitting the story very well. I usually manage to work out who the culprit is long before the ending of a book, but I have to say I didn’t see this one coming! I would highly recommend this book to anyone; it’s an explosive story with plenty of action and a great plot. I will definitely be looking to read more in this series.
