Hybrid by R.L. Henry is the new kind of alien adventure. It's got all the classic elements of science fiction, but with a bit of a romance to spice it up, as well as some amazingly creative fantasy elements that kept me riveted and enjoying myself the entire time.

In my opinion, aliens have been getting the short end of the stick with pop culture these days. Don't get me wrong, I love zombies and vampires and all the mystical magical fantasy stuff that they've been putting out. But where is Sigourney Weaver with a huge gun or Will Smith with his midget cricket? That's why I liked Hybrid so much. It's kind of a cross between classic alien fiction and the paranormal reads that are so popular these days. Moving away from the trend of using third person in sci-fi, R.L. Henry chose to use first person and live through the eyes of Van, a documentarian on extraterrestrial life. He becomes enthralled by the exquisitely beautiful Annika (Ha...seven of nine reference?) but is unprepared for the amount and types of feelings he gets from her.

From the cover to the very last pages, Hybrid is an intriguing, startling, and fun read for any fan of the science fiction genre. R.L. Henry is a very talented writer who chooses to focus on all elements of storytelling at once, including plot, imagery, and character development which is quite a difficult feat. You quite literally feel as though you are watching a movie when reading this book, and can barely comprehend that you've finished it when you are done!
