“This book is for girls. This book is for women. This is a book to empower females from teenagers through adults.” I Am: Poetry In Motion by K.D. Rose is not what I expected; a pleasant surprise and a fresh twist on the self-help book genre. I absolutely love the pictures that accompany each poem and writings. They are not merely for you to look at. They definitely capture the vital messages that we should embrace rather than ignore. You will definitely want to look at them more consciously, and the meaning of each picture will resonate in your mind.

It touches on every subject that the female sex is familiar with: what is the perception of beauty in today’s world, limitations that society often impose on women, women’s status in politics and so much more. There is something for everyone, and everything is layered with deep yet clear words of inspiring encouragement. This book is good, not because of the above-mentioned issues we females have to face, but because it softly compels us to confront them. I gravitated to one of the poems, the melancholic and alluring Vinyl Lines – “We are vinyl lines / We have our own groove / We require diamonds / We scratch easily / We cascade melodies.”

K.D. Rose gives us a book with a compelling message that will change the way we see life. Forty-four pages of pure, poignantly beautiful, and thought-provoking empowerment. To all my fellow females, I Am: Poetry In Motion is invigorating and engaging. It is definitely for us.

I Am: Poetry In Motion by K.D. Rose is the perfect book for women and girls. It is a book that speaks about the insecurities women face in their lives when it comes to their physical appearance and acceptance by others in the society. Girls, especially teenagers, have a low self esteem. They always look down upon themselves. This book tells us how to love ourselves despite our drawbacks and flaws, because nobody is perfect in life.

I liked the theme and concept of this poetry collection. It is unique, innovative, and at the same time relevant to women. The pictures add life to the poems and also give the poems more clarity and meaning. The book is inspiring for the very fact that it encourages women to start loving themselves and their bodies and tells them to be true to their own selves. Loving yourself is the theme that runs through the book. It is a very important aspect for women to learn and practise.

I Am: Poetry In Motion is a book where the author's thoughts are expressed in a simple manner for any reader to understand. The reaffirming quotes are very motivating and inspiring for those who are on the path of changing their lives for the better. The book is written for the empowerment of women who are in low phases of their lives and who require some motivation to get back into life. It is a must-read for all women and girls.

“Our chance doesn’t end until we are dead,” writes K.D. Rose in her book of poetry, I Am (Poetry in Motion). This is a collection of poems that challenges the thought processes and feelings of women and urges them to rise up and be who they are. It inspires women to go against the grain, if the grain isn’t what makes them happy. Women are encouraged to look at their inner beauty and strive to be stronger at presenting that inner strength. This book is a calling to not only find power together with other women, but to find individual strength as well and hold fast to it. Included with short, but profound lines of poetry are graphic images that depict the stronger side and the more beautiful side of women. “It’s not who you are that holds you back, it’s who you think you’re not.” Profound advice and encouragement like this is found throughout I Am (Poetry in Motion).

Though I’m a man and the book was written for women, I still found the clean, honest advice to be strong and stand firm in my individuality both encouraging and inspiring. Within the lines of verse, there is sound advice for women at any stage in life to not knuckle under to the pressures of the world. K.D. Rose would advise her sisters to not conform in order to be comfortable, but to become what they are meant to become. Strong women who have stood up and done what needed doing have been the true blessing of history. It is their spirit of stepping forward and using their strengths and special talents that is celebrated and furthermore encouraged. Fresh, creative, profound and inspiring; I Am (Poetry in Motion) is a clear voice calling women to be what they are and not what others want them to be.
