Alena has a good life, a loving family and a fabulous boyfriend. That is until a psychic changes Alena’s path forever. Alena’s new found fears take on a life of their own. Can she get through it all? I like the theme in Jackie Mae's If: Dangerous Waters. I also read and reviewed her If: Blurred Vision, which asked similar questions. Are psychic predictions real? What if you do not believe in psychics? Should you still heed their advice if the information they give you is negative? Does worrying about what the psychic said and acting on that information cause the bad event to happen?

These are just some of the questions raised (and answered) in Jackie Mae's writing. In If: Dangerous Waters, Alena is dragged to a psychic reading with her friends for a girls' night out. But when the psychic tells Alena to beware of water, it starts Alena down a path of fear she isn't sure she can overcome. While her friends talk badly about the psychic and try to denounce her as a fake and a fraud, Alena is worried that the psychic might have strong connections to a spirit world. When Alena was a young child she had an experience with seeing ghosts. Although she no longer believes that she actually saw ghosts (and chalks the man she saw up to an overactive childhood imagination) now that the psychic mentioned spirits, Alena begins to doubt what is real and what is not. How does she know that there aren't spirits trying to help save her? And who is she to tempt fate? Is it easier to stay away from water or face her worst fears?
