Carole Roman’s If You Were Me and Lived in… series and the illustrators that she uses create a world traveler's experience. This book, as seen through the eyes of the children of the various cultures, makes this a special treat. I loved this book because I felt like I was walking through the parks, streets and markets as I witnessed the numerous events mentioned in the book. Reading about Kenya, Israel, China or the Mayan Empire is such a great way to introduce the wonders of each country to young readers.
