In My Dreams by Cameo Renae is a young adult paranormal story about a seventeen-year-old girl named Elizabeth Hayes who has strange dreams. In her dreams, which are really more like premonitions of the future, people die. Elizabeth hated having this gift or talent and wished that it would go away, especially the night when she dreamt about the death of her boyfriend. When she finds the dead body of her boyfriend along the river, Lizzy is distraught. But even weirder is when Michael returns to her dreams, this time alive. He's trying to warn her about the very person who murdered him. Does Lizzy have the strength to save herself and her friends? Are they really in as much danger as Michael seems to think? And why can Lizzy suddenly see Michael alive, when she saw him dead in her dreams and in real life? This is a love story about the power that love has. In dreams, in life, and in death.
This is a fantastic love story. I was so excited about this premise and I felt this story really lived up to what it set out to do. Readers who enjoy ghost stories (especially ghost love stories) will really get a kick out of this story and will love the connection between Michael and Lizzy, even after Michael is gone and can only visit Lizzy in her dreams. And Lizzy is a wonderful character, strong and tough but also vulnerable and sad. Great story!
