Terrie Sizemore's In Search of Easter follows Scottie, a young boy who is adopted by a caring couple, Mark and Jenny, and their loyal search-and-rescue dogs. Throughout the story, Scottie and his adorable puppy, Simon, go on a fun adventure in their neighborhood in search of the real meaning behind celebrating Easter. Their little quest starts with an Easter egg hunt, which turns into a search for Jesus Christ. Pretty soon, they visit several local places, like a store, a post office, and a library, during their search for Jesus. Everyone responds kindly, but sadly, they do not know where Jesus is. Eventually, Scottie speaks to Brother Bill from his church, who shares the good news of Jesus’ loving sacrifice and resurrection with Scottie.
In Search of Easter by Terrie Sizemore is a captivating children's book that introduces readers to the true meaning of Easter and Jesus' role in mankind's salvation. The characters, dialogues, and overall storyline are written using simple, straightforward, and age-appropriate language, making it easy for children to understand. The author aptly uses Scottie’s curiosity about Easter to guide readers through conversations about faith, Jesus' love for humanity, what His love guided Him to do for us, and its impact on our lives today. As Scottie searches for Jesus with his furry companion, Simon, his journey reminds us that the true meaning behind Easter isn't about getting caught up in the festivities specifically, but about building a relationship with God and remembering all that He has done for us through Jesus on the cross. I highly recommend adding it to your child's book collection today.
