Incendiary by Richard Earl Rice is an action-packed, suspense-filled thriller that had me biting my nails! From the very start, the story had my interest and attention, which is always a good sign for me. The flow of the story was smooth, nothing was rushed and everything was placed and developed brilliantly. While the story revolves around a terrorist chase, it offers a lot more to the reader in many exciting ways. I enjoyed how the characters were developed, how the fast pace of the story didn’t rush the development of the plot and how everything seem to come to life on the pages.
This is the story of Dante Romero, a CIA agent who is on a mission in Saudi Arabia. Everything was going fine, but things changed when he found out about Omar al-Sulaiman. Omar is a terrorist who is working under a new leadership that wants to rain terror everywhere. Dante knows that Omar belongs to a group of terrorists, but he had no idea that he would lose track of Omar just when things become heated. En route to destroy the USA as best as he can, Omar begins his journey to achieve his target. Now it is up to Dante to gather some skillful men to locate Omar and end his plans before he can harm anyone.
This is one of those novels that can become a really good movie or a TV series. I can imagine Dante becoming one of the most forceful law enforcement officials. He is charming, witty and intelligent enough to grab the attention of the audience and make them fall in love with his sneaky yet sharp ways to get to the bottom of things. I enjoyed how levelheaded yet remarkably stubborn he could be. I enjoyed this novel and I hope that the author has some sequels planned in the future.
