Infernal Gates by Michael Jack Webb is an enthralling supernatural tale, the age-old battle between good and evil. A plane goes down just after takeoff, killing all except one passenger - Ethan. A bus explodes, killing all but one passenger – Avner. Alec and Donald uncover deep, dark secrets in Egypt, secrets that have been locked away since the pharaohs ruled. Sam Weaver is in charge of the plane crash investigation and, while the FBI is convinced that Ethan is a terrorist, she believes he is innocent. Neither is aware that an ancient evil has been released from its prison, an evil that wants the Destroyer and his Fallen Angels released from the Abyss. Sam and Ethan are in a race against time to save humanity before the Destroyer can unleash terror, annihilating the world. Can they beat the Destroyer? Can they save the world before time runs out? And what is the connection between Avner and Ethan?
Infernal Gates by Michael Jack Webb is a fantastic story, one of those books that you just can't put down. The start of the book may appear to be disjointed at first glance, with lots of different characters being introduced but, rest assured, every one of them is vital to the story and eventually all paths cross. This is a tale steeped in history and mythology from ancient Egypt and the Middle East. Webb has clearly done his research into historical facts and produced a story that will take you on a journey through time, a journey into the unknown where angels and demons fight, where humans are pitted against the supernatural in an epic battle. The characters are incredibly well developed, their stories built up gradually, allowing their personalities to shine through. This is a strong Christian novel, packed with action, and although you may think it slow at times, stick with it – every word written is vital to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this; a great novel that crosses several different genres, combining them perfectly.
