Matlyn Perraca's book of poems is divided into two parts. Part one is entitled poems from the mind and the second part deals with poems from the heart. Poems from the mind include titles like Double Jointed, First Lovers, Origin of Love, A Taste of Patriotism, Arrive, One in May and On Thoughtfulness. The poems from the heart, among others, are Courtship, For Ken, Almost Bittersweet, For Wayne, Why Am I Breathless, Wavelength, Until He Titles It and Magnetic. There are seventy-eight poems in the first section and sixty poems in the second part for a total of one hundred forty poems.

Aptly titled "Inside Me", the poems in this collection are derived from the author's mind and heart. The overall style of the poet is free verse and the recurring theme is love, relationship, nature and women issues although the subject matter is quite diverse. In the poem, You Were Never Mine, the choice of words is quite interesting. Corrupted/ I shed my limbs/to morph skeletal/your cracked/ countenance fading/ beneath September dew/ as green blood flushed. These images can be disturbing to some readers but they are sure to catch anyone's attention. Lyrical without trying too hard, Matlyn Perraca is a natural, born poet. In Siamese Flowers, her metaphor is truly unique and refreshing. We grew/ two-toned/ beneath atmospheric/ pressure/ as petallic luster/ pearled the way. I guess this author coined the word pettalic herself! The next lines of the poem are among my favorites in this collection: Oh, how I dreamed/ of necking/ with someone/ who wasn't/ from the same/ seed. This author has certainly found her voice and it is lyrical, mischievous and witty.
