Inventionare by Hyrum Jones is an amusing book full of remarkable rhymes and quirky pictures. It shows the ups and downs of the typical inventor’s life: great ideas, poor sales. Inventionare creates an unpoppable balloon and figures out how to keep certain animals out of the bathtub, among other things. Unfortunately, he cannot seem to make a good salary or get a girl to stick with him. A good way to introduce a conversation with your children on hobbies versus paying jobs (or finding jobs that you enjoy but provide income for you and future family members). A perfect read for that right brain child who needs a little goofy imagination before bed.

I absolutely loved Inventionare by Hyrum Jones! The pictures are bright, look appealingly homemade (there are non-appealing homemade ones out there… but this isn’t one of them), and have so much more to them than I could take in with one glance. I could see how a kid might entertain him/herself for hours just studying all the fun little details included on each page (like the fact that Peter Piper pays for his apartment with peppers). The rhymes, while conveying the realities of most inventors' lives, do so in such a hilariously delightful way that I laughed a couple times throughout the book. It is a rare book that can get a laugh out of me, but Inventionare is just such a book. An intriguing read aloud tale that parents will enjoy as much as their kids.
