Jace and Rocco live close to each other and are best friends. One thing they enjoy doing during their summer vacation is playing catch with their baseball in the park. The boys are excited because this is the beginning of summer vacation, and they are on their way to the park, with Rocco’s furry friend, Max. When they arrive, they see that their favorite place to play had been taken, so they have to find another spot. It just happens to be near the Forbidden Forest. They will have to be careful and not throw the ball into the forest, because no one can go there. But when they start throwing their baseball, it happens! Jace threw the ball to Rocco, hard and high, and Rocco couldn’t catch it, and guess where it went? Yes you are right, it ended up in the Forbidden Forest. Should they go after it? Well, Jace was determined to go get it, so he went into the forest. When you read The Forbidden Forest, you will find out if Jace found the ball and got out of the forest safely.
This is a really cute and well written story for young readers. It is full of adventure and fun, with a little mystery and quite a few twists and turns to make the story more enjoyable and suspenseful. There is a lot of fantasy to make the imaginations of young readers run wild. But it does teach them the difference between real and make-believe, while giving an adorable and adventurous read. I think The Forbidden Forest is one of those books that can be enjoyed by any reader. You will fall in love with Jace, Rocco, and Max, as you follow their journey through the forest. Pick up a copy of this new book by D.W. Harper for an awesome read for you and your children.
